After the Fire
Having a fire at your home or business is disruptive and devastating. It is an emotional and confusing time, and therefore hard to know what steps to take next. First and foremost, it is important to find a safe place to stay. If staying with friends and family is not an option, you can contact your local Red Cross or Salvation Army chapter for assistance.
Contact your utility providers and let them know about the fire. Then contact your insurance company so they can walk you through the proper steps to file a claim. Call SERVPRO of Portsmouth at 757-397-3770. We will send one of our highly trained project managers out to assess the damages and give you a free remediation and repair estimate.
Once you have permission to re-enter your home or business take plenty of pictures to document the damage to your structure and belongings. Do not attempt to clean the damage yourself- let us take care of it for you. We have the proper knowledge, experience, and safety equipment. If you have pets, take them to get checked out by a veterinarian. Start the process of getting critical documents you may have lost back- your license, passport, birth certificate, etc. The Red Cross and Salvation Army can help you with disaster relief as well.
If you have experienced a fire damage at your home or business, call SERVPRO of Portsmouth at 757-397-3770 and let us help make the damage feel “Like it never even happened.”
